Interdisciplinarity only functions by using the philosophy and framework of inclusion. Teachers Ruin Gender takes pride in designing a unit that fully implements the principals of Universal Design for Learning including: multiple means of engagement, representation, and action / expression. Below are some examples of how we make our interdisciplinary unit inclusive for our students.
Giving students choice whenever possible
Engagement with the community through guest speakers
Relevant topic to students age and with regards to current societal issues
Kinaesthetic, visual and auditory modes of representation
Knowledge is transferable from subject to subject and from school to society
Multiple ways of expression in both formative and summative assessment
Frequent assessment for students to understand how they are doing and where to go next
