INCLUSION: UDL

Making Space for Every Student

Interdisciplinarity only functions by using the philosophy and framework of inclusion. Teachers Ruin Gender takes pride in designing a unit that fully implements the principals of Universal Design for Learning including: multiple means of engagement, representation, and action / expression. Below are some examples of how we make our interdisciplinary unit inclusive for our students.

  • Giving students choice whenever possible

  • Engagement with the community through guest speakers

  • Relevant topic to students age and with regards to current societal issues

  • Kinaesthetic, visual and auditory modes of representation

  • Knowledge is transferable from subject to subject and from school to society

  • Multiple ways of expression in both formative and summative assessment

  • Frequent assessment for students to understand how they are doing and where to go next
