WEEK 6
Essential Question: How can performance increase community awareness of social issues?
Students focus on completing their performance piece, developing their rationale and putting together the showcase. The week finishes with the final showcase where they will display their learning through the Fine Arts with their community, peers and families.
OBJECTIVES
Students will utilize peer feedback to critically inform the final developments of their performance piece
Students will continue developing skills with digital audio workstations like GarageBand
Students will culminate their learnings into the Grade 9 Performance Showcase
Students will reflect on the process of working in small groups for the performance project, and large groups for the showcase
Students will reflect on their individual learning
WEEKLY ACTIVITIES & ASSESSMENTS
Students will engage in constructive peer feedback through a dress rehearsal
Students will check-in with teachers through scheduled conferences about any last-minute issues
Students will work with GarageBand to create royalty and copyright free soundscapes for their performances
Students will rehearse and finalize their pieces

Midweek, students and teachers will work together to prepare the school foyer and other spaces for the Evening Showcase
At the Showcase, students will display their pieces, engage in conversation with audience members, and justify their learnings through their Digital Journal

Following the showcase, students will assess group members as per the rubric
In class groups with the teacher facilitating, students will reflect on the Showcase experience and write thank-you letters to the community to be displayed on the school webpage
​
Over the weekend, students will write a final reflection - a letter to a younger self about all they have learned; this will complete the Digital Journal
Students will submit their Digital Journal to the teacher for a final completion grade
